Dr Jason Tye-Din, is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and coeliac disease specialist. He runs two of Victoria's three deciated coeliac clinics at the Royal Melbourne and Box Hill Hospitals, and is a lecturer at Melbourne and Monash Universities. He has been heavily involved in professional education of coeliac disease for the past nine years and his research has focussed on the development of new diagnostics and therapies for coeliac disease, including the coeliac vaccine. 10.30am
Dr Sue Shepherd is an Advanced Accredited Practising Dietitian who is recognised internationally as a leading dietitian for the treatment of dietary intolerances. In 2008 Sue awarded her doctorate for her PhD research in aspects of coeliac disease, and for the development of the “low FODMAP diet” which is recognised internationally as the primary dietary therapy for management of irritable bowel syndrome. Sue also has coeliac disease herself – she lives and breathes all good tastes gluten free, both personally and professionally! She is a passionate, enthusiastic advocate for promotion of good nutrition and good bowels! 11.30am
Associate Professor Don Cameron is Head of Paediatric Gastroenterology at Monash Children's and Southern Health, and a Paediatric Gastroenterologist at Royal Children's Hospital Melbourne. He has been looking after children with Coeliac Disease for over thirty years and has been actively involved with Coeliac Australia since its inception. He wrote much of the original resources for Coeliac Australia. He is a member of the World Congress Working Group on Coeliac Disease and a member of the Coeliac Australia Medical Advisory Committee. 12.30pm
Gerald Quigley, Pharmacist and Master Herbalist. The philosophy of Gerald Quigley is based on empowering individuals to take control of their own health and wellbeing. At the Gluten Free Expo and Conference, Gerald will be presenting on: Talking with your pharmacist regarding gluten free medicines, over the counter products, topical items and the important questions to ask. 1.30pm
Emma Halmos is an Accredited Practising Dietitian with clinical experience in both rural and metropolitan Melbourne hospitals. Emma’s specialty is in the area of gastrointestinal nutrition. She is currently completing her PhD with Monash University in irritable bowel syndrome. Emma also works in Sue Shepherd’s private practice Shepherd Works, consulting patients with gastrointestinal conditions including irritable bowel syndrome and coeliac disease. 2.30pm
